I provide both with an emphasis on psychotherapy.
Good psychiatric care is comprehensive, which means that biological, psychological, social, spiritual, and developmental factors are all addressed. I believe in an integrated approach that takes the entire person into account.
You can do both. I see patients in office in Fort Myers, FL and I can also make telemedicine appointments for patients throughout Florida. All telemedicine visits are through secure, HIPAA compliant software.
Please note that controlled substance prescriptions require an in office visit.
No, I am an out-of-network provider. If you have out-of-network benefits as part of your insurance plan, I can provide an invoice to submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement. I also use the Reimbursify app for faster and more accurate out-of-network claims submission.
There are many advantages to working out-of-network:
I offer a free one-time 10 minute phone interview to answer questions and determine if this is the right course of treatment for you.
Payment is taken at the time of service and I accept all credit, debit, HSA, and FSA cards.
Remember, if you have out-of-network benefits with your insurance an invoice can be provided to submit for possible reimbursement.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Missed visits or late cancellations will be charged the full fee.
I see all adults, from late adolescents through seniors.
Medications can be life-saving when given properly. Psychiatric prescribing is done best when medications are given for the correct diagnosis using the evidence-based standard of care. Medication use is always customized to each individual patient, and having longer appointment times allows for this more thorough, integrated, and individualized approach.
Unfortunately, psychiatric medications are sometimes overused. They can be given for longer than needed, prescribed at high doses unnecessarily, too many are used at once, or they are used for emotions that aren't clinical symptoms. Medications should be given at the lowest effective dose and for the shortest amount of time needed. I have years of experience simplifying complex medication regimens.
Because the indications for the use of benzodiazepines (Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, etc) are getting fewer, I rarely prescribe them or recommend their long-term use. I am skilled at discontinuing them when needed.
Please note that all controlled substance prescriptions require an in office appointment.
I am educated in several schools of psychotherapeutic thought. Depending on the issues at hand, one of the following techniques are used. Follow the link for more information on each.
Although it is ideal and convenient to receive therapy and medications from the same person, I am happy to coordinate care with an outside therapist. If you have a good rapport and are making progress with your current therapist, you should absolutely continue with them. Many therapists have specific areas of expertise and I will refer to them when needed.
