This includes depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder. Depending on the issue at hand, Dr Martinez will recommend a combination of psychotherapy and medication management for these conditions.
Evidence-based psychotherapy is at the heart of trauma treatment. Medications are used secondarily. Treatment is always compassionate, confidential, and non-judgmental.
This includes schizophrenia, delusional disorder, and schizoaffective disorder. Most psychotic symptoms can be managed as an outpatient and the focus is on maintaining quality of life.
Dr Martinez uses several modalities for substance use treatment including medication management and psychotherapy such as DBT for substance use.
This involves mental health issues regarding the reproductive stages of women's lives, such as premenstrual symptoms, postpartum symptoms, prescribing during pregnancy and breastfeeding, sexual health, and issues related to menopause and infertility.
Dr Martinez has extensive experience with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), the current recommended treatment for BPD. Often BPD patients are prescribed on many psychiatric medications with little relief, and Dr Martinez can adjust care to emphasize skills that work and discontinue excessive medications when necessary.
You do not need a psychiatric diagnosis to see a psychotherapist. Dr Martinez is skilled at helping with the challenges life hands us, such as relationship problems, communication, grief & loss, aging and life transitions, conflict resolution, and more. The goal is to be honest with ourselves, identify our real values, and find purpose and meaning in life.
